Goals

Students will learn how to create a simple rig and attach it to a mesh.

Rigging

Assignment Details

Model a simplistic humanoid or animal mesh and attach a basic armature rig to the model.

  1. Humanoid or animal mesh subject.
    1. The mesh object should be a simple humanoid or animal mesh. It can be just a stick figure with no face or defining features.
    2. You can use an object from a prior assignment or a pre-generated character.
    3. Subject should have a simple color, material, and/or texture applied.
  2. Rigging.
    1. Needs the following 10 bones/joints
    2. Head / neck
    3. Torso /waist
    4. Upper Arm / Shoulders x 2
    5. Lower Arm / Elbows x 2
    6. Upper Leg / Hip x 2
    7. Lower Leg / Knee x 2
  3. Parenting
    1. The torso should be the root bone of all of the bones.
    2. The parent-child structure should go out from the torso to the limbs appropriately.
    3. The rigging fits the mesh subject properly.
    4. The character mesh deforms properly as the rig is posed.
